About

Welcome! I’m Dr. Marissa and I’m glad you’re here.

This practice focuses on supporting older adults navigating the aging process, with a deep respect for the life experiences, perspectives, and wisdom they bring to the table. I believe in creating a warm, understanding space where you feel heard and supported.

I am deeply committed to fostering a holistic and respectful approach to mental health. I strive to help clients navigate the complexities of aging while supporting their ongoing emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. I believe that with the right tools and support, this stage of life can be one of profound fulfillment and resilience.

For me, working with older adults is not just about providing support—it is about building a partnership, grounded in mutual respect, to help clients navigate both the joys and the challenges of later life. It is an incredible privilege to witness the courage, vulnerability, and strength that my clients display. I am continuously grateful for the opportunity to learn from their stories.

Growing up, I was profoundly impacted by the older adults who shaped my life in rural Appalachia—whether it was my grandparents, elder family members, or mentors. Their wisdom and unique perspectives shaped my understanding of aging as a time not just of challenges, but also of immense potential for growth, reflection, and meaningful connection. These early influences inspired me to dedicate my career as a clinical psychologist to supporting older adults in navigating the complexities of later life.

I believe that aging offers a unique space for introspection, life review, and the opportunity to embrace one's legacy, while also addressing the emotional and cognitive challenges that can arise. I strive to approach each individual with humility, recognizing that they are the experts on their own lives. My role is to listen deeply, honor their perspectives, and collaborate with them to find solutions and pathways that align with their goals and values.

Outside of work, I find balance and well-being through a deep connection to nature. You will often find me hiking, climbing, or rafting (when I can find water!). I also enjoy playing with my dog and finding a creative outlet through throwing pottery. These activities help me recharge and bring a sense of calm that enriches both my personal life and my work with others.
